Atheist
Apollo is asking Stephanie about her religious beliefs while she’s cleaning the carpet. She says that she respects other people’s need for spirituality. The title of this video is misleading, because she doesn’t state strong atheist beliefs. It’s more of a “I don’t know what’s out there. If there’s a God, that’s cool.” Apollo says that he was an atheist and then he transitioned to agnosticism. Steph says people don’t like when someone identifies themselves as an atheist. “You’re too cute and happy to be an atheist! They’re mean and full of angst!” HA! She doesn’t believe that there’s no God (which is what atheism is), she just has a lack of belief based on a lack of evidence. Right, because she’s a scientist, and scientists like proof. She’s talking about the brain, and synapses, and science. Apollo starts talking about monkeys on an island and how we are breathing the same oxygen as the people who came before us. Stephanie says that it’s beautiful the way we’re all made of matter that comes from the stars and cycles through the earth. “That’s kinda cool!” I was just about to say that.
Baseball
Outside in the yard at night. It’s dark, but I see Mike, Gene, and Kevin. I don’t think anyone else is around. They get 10 pitches or three strikes each. Gene says there have been 7, but Mike says it’s been three. They must be cutting, because Gene gets one more swing and Mike calls it ten. Kevin comes up to the bat. “He either swings or he hits it.” I’m not an official baseball expert, but how would Kevin hit the ball without swinging the bat? Gene calls strike three, and the clip cuts out.
Andrea Runs
Andrea comes out in the run and we discover that the ball they’re throwing around was made with tape. I was wondering about that. She’s running laps around the yard. It is exactly as boring as you would think it would be, and, at 30 seconds, I really don’t understand why it’s here.
Balloon Party
I was going to say it’s night, because all is dark in the Glass House, but then Stephanie wanders into the kitchen and says to Jeffrey, “It’s almost 8, I slept in.” It must be really disorienting to have no real sunlight or anything. Weird. No wonder they get breaks on the weekends. Steph notes that Andrea got a lot of balloons done last night. Jeffrey says he’d rather have both of Stephanie’s burdens than Andrea’s. I didn’t even realize Steph had two. The balloons are pretty, so they dive in and start running around. This is clearly the most fun they’ve had in weeks. The lights come on! Weird. I wonder what would happen if Andrea didn’t do all 500 balloons, but I suppose we’ll never know. After a minute or so of dancing in the balloons, they head back into the kitchen to make breakfast.
